So naturally, I consider myself a pretty decent cook. I'm no Emirl Lagasse or Rachael Ray. But I know what’s up. I’ve grilled frog legs, full chickens and alligator. I love cooking. So I told the priests I’m staying with that yah I like to cook. So they keep teasing me about how I say I’m a great cook, but I haven’t proven anything. Ok, fellas. It’s on.
So were walking into town one day, well like 3 days ago, just enjoying life. We hadn’t gotten cheated yet on a 3 wheel ride, we got money from da bank, and we ready to find the western store Roshan Bros. [[pause. So this store, RB, sells some western foods. We’ve been there twice, via 4 wheel with personal driver, not via foot like we currently were. So we ha vena idea where it is, but nothing specific. And after 8 weeks, we still don’t have a good map of Patna. ]] So were walking and we see this shopping center. Like the size of a Walgreens, double decker, but divided into like 50 stores. And this is new to us so were stoked. So we go in. and the first store we walk past has this sweet blue checkered shirt. So I’m hooked. And the 5 guys working in this shoe box store that had maybe 40 shirt total in the whole store were all trying to help me. I was confused and sweaty. So I asked to try the shirt on and I was led upstairs. The dress room was 5 feet tall. Like it came up to my shoulders.hahah screw it. So I went in, handed off my cowboy/Indiana Jones hat and knelt on the floor, stripping my shirt off trying this new one on. It was now sweaty. Whoops. Mary Ellen was still outside but she dint think the shirt was all that great so I went back in the dressing room, knelt down and took the shirt off, now covered in my sweat, yah sorry guys, I might be back to buy that shirt… ok…. Yah prob not. So we went to another store which had food, pots pans, electronics and candy... While we were there, we found pasta. Done. Were making the fathers pasta. So we buy some. And a bottle that said tomato sauce. We got some other stuff and I ended up getting a plaid shirt that had no buttons that I think looks sweet. So we were out of money so we went home. We got some more money and went to the market across the street and got caught in a rainstorm, got soaked, but got 1 kg tomatoes 1kg of eggplant and 3 capciorn (green pepper)
We got back and figured we were good for pasta. But we were planning on doing a 4th of July feast as well. Today is Thursday... pasta on Friday. On Monday the 4th, were cooking american celebration meal. That’s the game plan.
So Friday comes and we did something in the morning, but I forget what. In the afternoon, we went to find the western store that we bought peanut butter and toilet paper at last time. Well we couldn’t find it . so we walked. And walked and walked. Finally I went into a Chevrolet dealer, middle of nowhere street, and they directed me 2 blocks straight 2 blocks left. Yep we went the wrong way. So long dumb boring story short we found it. We got peanut butter and mustard and cocktail weenies and they had bbq sauce, like 6oz bottle. W.e it’s worth it. And we got a bottle of white mischief vodka. How fitting. What’s 4th of July without a lil fun??
So Friday at like 530pm, dinner is at 8 the game plan is pasta (we got 3.3 lbs ahhaha), eggplantparmesan, without Parmesan, tomato sauce from scratch with a lil tomato sauce fre\ma jar, and garlic bread. So first we cut some garlic. Well Mary Ellen peeled a bulb of garlic and put it in the food processor bowl. Then she peeled a second bulb and put it in another bowl. I was cutting onions. So I got the butter salt and olive oil in the food processor and I saw 2 thing of garlic. Confused I combined them. Ooops. So she came back from the bathroom and was like where’s my garlic… and I’m like I put it in here why. Tim that’s 2 bulbs of garlic. And a quarter stick of butter hahahahah well. This will be fun. Se we add more butter and it tastes super garlicky but w.e I think it was great. So we put it in a bowl and put it back into the fridge.
I’m falling asleep its almost midnight here I got mass in 7 hrs. I’ll continue tmrw. Peace and love. --tim
